Gulf Shores Technology Lunch

Big waste of time for me. I went to this thing this week, and while I wasn't miserable or anything (sat w/ friends), the topics were about economic development and venture capitol and stuff I don't care about. And the food was kinda school-lunch-room.

I got the impression that not many people there were web people, mostly business people.

But standing in buffet line this tall, older guy was saying that he managed about 12 websites ( I think he said 12, might have been 20, can't remember) anyway....he was so proud...he said that the busiest one was getting 15,000 visitors a week. Repeated it several times. Everyone around him was congratulating him.

I kept my mouth shut. I have sites that get 15,000 unique visitors a day. Last week the DAC-ART site had more than 99,000 visitors. The scrapbooking site runs between 35,000 to 45,000 per week.

I photographed this small weeping shrub in Pensacola in a front yard. The purple flowers and orange berries were present at the same time on this georgous plant. The same yard had some of the same species but with white flowers that were not nearly as vibrant. It looked great in spite of a very dry summer and it is planted close to salt water. Color Change Paint Job

I spotted another car with one of those awesome paint jobs that change colors are you drive past. I used to see one with a different set of hues parked in from of a local vinyl liner pool company here in Gulf Shores. This is what I'd like on my VW Thing, but I want coral and peach shades so it look like a woman's fingernail polish rack at the nail salon. Anyone know anything about this type of paint job ? What is it called ? What's it cost. Where do you go to get it ?

Miller's Birthday Today

Today would have been Miller's 26th B'Day. Here are some birthday photos from his 11th and his 15th birthday and a few others. In one he has on some of his Grandaddy's vintage Lily Pulitzer pants. In another he was so proud of the size of the catfish that he caught that he was holding the cat for size comparison. He only bleached his hair once. He walked into the room with the cat and put it on his head, but it didn't work out as planned and I always thought it was one of the funniest photos of him I ever took. Miller was the most brilliant, funny, charming, thoughtful, & loving person I have ever known. He was finishing up Grad School and had every pilot's certification possible for his age when he died. There is no telling what he would be doing today had he lived. We all miss him so.
