Vote for Taylor Tonight


Usually one to be totally oblivious to what is on television, tonight I know that local favorite, Taylor Hicks will be in the final something on American Idol at 7 p.m. central time zone. I have a news clipping alert service that sends me press releases and newspaper articles for keywords that I specify. And, 'gulf shores alabama' alerts got this info to me. So I am now telling you, so WE CAN ALL VOTE FOR HIM !

Joni Hicks reports the official Hicks friends-and-family South Alabama "Idol" viewing party will return to Lester's in Orange Beach tonight before going back to Lulu's at Gulf Shores next week. "Idol" airs at 7 tonight on WALA-TV10 locally.

So since we couldn't vote our favorite basketball teams into the Final Four in NCAA tournament, lets at least do the vote thing when we can for our favorite home boy. I have never done it before--I think it is a toll free phone call to vote. I'm sure instructions will be on the TV screen following his preformance.

I photographed this small weeping shrub in Pensacola in a front yard. The purple flowers and orange berries were present at the same time on this georgous plant. The same yard had some of the same species but with white flowers that were not nearly as vibrant. It looked great in spite of a very dry summer and it is planted close to salt water. Color Change Paint Job

I spotted another car with one of those awesome paint jobs that change colors are you drive past. I used to see one with a different set of hues parked in from of a local vinyl liner pool company here in Gulf Shores. This is what I'd like on my VW Thing, but I want coral and peach shades so it look like a woman's fingernail polish rack at the nail salon. Anyone know anything about this type of paint job ? What is it called ? What's it cost. Where do you go to get it ?

Miller's Birthday Today

Today would have been Miller's 26th B'Day. Here are some birthday photos from his 11th and his 15th birthday and a few others. In one he has on some of his Grandaddy's vintage Lily Pulitzer pants. In another he was so proud of the size of the catfish that he caught that he was holding the cat for size comparison. He only bleached his hair once. He walked into the room with the cat and put it on his head, but it didn't work out as planned and I always thought it was one of the funniest photos of him I ever took. Miller was the most brilliant, funny, charming, thoughtful, & loving person I have ever known. He was finishing up Grad School and had every pilot's certification possible for his age when he died. There is no telling what he would be doing today had he lived. We all miss him so.
