Daddy is here for a visit and he is really enjoying going out for live music most every night.

First photo was Gary Hirstius from New Orleans at SunPlace Else II where we had dinner the first night. All was well until the third set when a female performer came on who's volume was a bit louder than Daddy liked. We got out fast. He walked out with his fingers in his ears. He was shouting 'shut-up' prior to that...

At The Beach Club we heard the old Bearefoot Bar crew, . They are Daddy's favorites. Volume doesn't seem to be an issue there. Sometimes Daddy likes it loud jes fine. Jimbeau Hinson (in orange T-shirt) had his first Granny nominated song 'Colors' this year, a patriotic song .

Rusty Golden plays keyboard--Daddy loves his playing. His father is one of the Oak Ridge Boys. Marc Alan Barnett played along with them. Marc Alan lives in Nashville but used to play at the Bama, pre-Ivan , once a month. Marc Alan is always high-energy and fun. These guys write songs that get recorded by Nashville hit-makers--the CMN bunch.

One fellow was really enjoying himself at the Giggling Grouper with some new drink that Budwiser is introducing. It is Sparks--a Red Bull type thing to keep you up later so you can drink even more. They were serving it in special 'chemistry lab' type containers with funny markings on the side. Our waiteress said he and his friends had been there all day drinking.... we had to order a couple of these things for ourselves, they looked like so much fun.

At the Beach Club, after Jimbeau, Mark Alan and Rusty, we saw Carl Jackson and Jerry Salley. Larry Cordell usually plays with them , but his parents in Kentucky are ill so he left early. These guys are great and can be seen on TV frequently on Turner South on the Bluebird Cafe. They also write many of the Nashville songs that end up on CD's . They have been coming to this thing ever since I can remember. wherreas some songwriters can write great songs but don't play or sing too well, these guys are really great on stage. They sing in harmony....wonderful voices, real musicians, great songs.

to Lundy from Carol,

Glad you found some music your daddy enjoys. Be sure it's not the first time she's heard "Shut up". Believe me, I've come close to saying it many times lately. And the Dell tech support people, with whom I've become very close, tell me they have heard it all. In fact, they say they can't tell me where they are, for security reasons - afraid someone will go postal. Everytime I call, I try to guess - I'm thinking New Orleans, because they play Harry Connick, Jr. on the hold music. They tell me it's not Texas (where Dell is based). Even after I tell them I won't hurt them, they still won't tell me. Imagine that!

Love the pic's. Tell Harry & your daddy "Hey" for me.

Carol
