First Cement Tiles Arrive--Yipee !!!












My first tiles arrived yesterday. I got 3 boxes which I just found in the garage. I wasn't here when they came. The three groups of tile came on another bigger order of other's tile to Wholesale Tile in Tampa. They re-boxed them w/ extra packing and shipped them on to me. They look fabo. I am very pleased. Just one issue w/ some yellow color shades that are not the colors they are suppose to be, so the different areas do not show up well against each other as they should.
I got just a few of three of the tiles I plan to use in the new house.
The casual kid's look sailboat tiles go in the guest bathroom. Some people think it is silly and juvenile looking, and it is. But it always makes me smile. The ribbon tiles will go in stripes in the upstairs half-bath. The blue and white wave tile called Surf will go all over the top floor living area.

The color is in a thick layer that will take centuries to wear thru.

I photographed this small weeping shrub in Pensacola in a front yard. The purple flowers and orange berries were present at the same time on this georgous plant. The same yard had some of the same species but with white flowers that were not nearly as vibrant. It looked great in spite of a very dry summer and it is planted close to salt water. Color Change Paint Job

I spotted another car with one of those awesome paint jobs that change colors are you drive past. I used to see one with a different set of hues parked in from of a local vinyl liner pool company here in Gulf Shores. This is what I'd like on my VW Thing, but I want coral and peach shades so it look like a woman's fingernail polish rack at the nail salon. Anyone know anything about this type of paint job ? What is it called ? What's it cost. Where do you go to get it ?

Miller's Birthday Today

Today would have been Miller's 26th B'Day. Here are some birthday photos from his 11th and his 15th birthday and a few others. In one he has on some of his Grandaddy's vintage Lily Pulitzer pants. In another he was so proud of the size of the catfish that he caught that he was holding the cat for size comparison. He only bleached his hair once. He walked into the room with the cat and put it on his head, but it didn't work out as planned and I always thought it was one of the funniest photos of him I ever took. Miller was the most brilliant, funny, charming, thoughtful, & loving person I have ever known. He was finishing up Grad School and had every pilot's certification possible for his age when he died. There is no telling what he would be doing today had he lived. We all miss him so.
