Two Local FEMA Stories

A lot of weirdness goes along with all hurricane stuff, some people around here are really tired of the national TV coverage of this whining about FEMA not doing what it should and bla bla bla....

Two stories I heard this week first hand. Today a meth lab was busted in a room in the new condo/hotel that FEMA was paying for at the Brett/Robinson managed Phoenix Suites in Gulf Shores right on the beach, next to the public beach. Prime hotel space. News report here.

Last week, a friend of Mary Jo's was telling me that Brett/Robinson had put refugees from New Orleans in her rental condo that is in their rental management program. The 'family' had just moved out--she went in to check on things--they had trashed the place. She gave me all the dirty, grimy details but you don't even want to read them. She says it will have to be emptied and completely re-done. Carpeting, walls, paintings, bedspreads, all upholstery etc....UNBELIEVABLE.

Bottom line seems to be, if you want to live on the Gulf of Mexico coast, you had better have the resources to deal with what might just happen. If you don't....live someplace else. At least that is what people around here think.

I thought that I told you that a manager at Brett/Robinson said that they had maybe 4 bad experiences with Katrina evacuees out of about 150. Probably not much more than your average renter.
